Hyundai Verna

The Hyundai Verna comes with both gasoline and diesel engines. The SX(O) turbo model is only available with a 1.0-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine, whilst all other variants come with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.

Hyundai Verna was first launched in the Indian car market back in 2006. 

Engine specifications

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine produces 113bhp at 6,300rpm and 144Nm of torque at 4500rpm under the hood. This engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission and an IVT option. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine (1,493cc) produces 113bhp at 4000rpm and 250Nm at 1500rpm. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are offered for the diesel engine. The turbocharged (998cc) 1.0-litre petrol engine develops 118 bhp at 6000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 1500rpm. A seven-speed DCT gearbox is linked to the 1.0-litre turbo engine.

Exterior design 

The Verna is designed with the new 'Sensuous Sportiness' design philosophy in mind. The sedan has a redesigned bumper with a broad chrome mesh grille and triangular housing for spherical foglamps. It also has a broad air dam in the lower half of the bumper, as well as sleek and stylish headlights. Halogen headlights are standard on the S/S+ model, while projector headlamps are standard on the SX model. Only the SX(O) and SX(O) Turbo models come with full LED headlights. Steel wheels are standard on the basic trim, while the SX receives R16 grey alloys. R16 diamond cut alloy wheels are standard on the top-spec models.

Interior design and features

In 1.5-litre engine models, the luxury dual-tone beige and black upholstery is standard, while the 1.0-litre turbo variant has a black interior with red accents. All variations have standard features such as front/rear power windows and rear AC vents. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert, driver and co-driver seat belt alert, central locking, impact sensing auto door unlock, speed sensing auto door lock, front seat belt pre-tensioners, immobilizer, ISOFIX, dual horn, and emergency stop signal are among the standard safety features.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, and Volkswagen Vento are all Hyundai Verna's competitors.
