Mercedes-Benz GLS Info
The new generation Mercedes-Benz GLS was launched in India back in 2020.
Engine and Transmission
The new GLS is powered mechanically by 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol version produces 362bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel version produces around 325 bhp and 700 Nm. Both engines come equipped with 9G-Tronic and 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive. For the first time, the petrol version receives the EQ Boost function.
Exterior design
The Mercedes-Benz GLS features a powerful masculine front that includes an upright radiator grille in an octagonal SUV interpretation, a conspicuous chrome-plated underguard in the front apron with the bone-shaped air intake grille, and a bonnet with two power domes. Multibeam LED headlamps with a total of 112 LEDs are standard on the GLS. The three-LED segmented daytime running lights emphasize the GLS' status as the S-Class of SUVs. Along with noticeable bulges on the tailgate and twin trapezoidal polished exhaust tips, the rear taillights gain the unique characteristic LED pattern. The SUV has grown 77 millimeters in length and 22 millimeters in width over its predecessor. Furthermore, the wheelbase has been extended by 60mm, giving the occupants extra space.
Interior design
Standard leather upholstery is of the highest quality. An impressively big screen unit embedded in a distinctive dashboard support is the centerpiece of the dashboard's design. All of the GLS comfort features can be operated from the driver's seat thanks to the MBUX infotainment system's big touchscreen. Most seats are electronically controlled, and the SUV boasts five-zone automatic temperature control, including a separate zone for the third row with roof-mounted climate control vents.
Safety
Up to nine airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera are among the safety features.
Rivals
In India, the Maybach GLS competes against the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, while the ordinary GLS competes against the BMW X7.
