Maruti XL6 is not new to Indian roads, as it was playing a prominent role in the Indian MPV segment. Maruti's Ertiga has also been a prominent player when it comes to the MPV segment in India, also this model is due for a facelift and the manufacturers have already started upgrades. So, their XL6 model is also getting ready to receive similar updates as the new generation Ertiga.
The variant XL6 is especially a polished premium derivative of the Ertiga MPV which comes with a refreshing front design with a crossover theme by leaving a rugged outlook. Now, Maruti assembled its plan to upgrade its XL6 MPV with a heavily camouflaged test mule recently spied on the road.
The test mule of the Maruti XL6 only leaves minor details about the rear design. The grille part is slightly tweeted whereas the bumper looks refreshed. Its headlamps look something similar to the existing XL6 and the internals could be tweaked.
XL6 test version equips a new design in the wheels segment similar to that of Suzuki XL7 on sale in some southeast Asian markets. As caught by some information, this new updated MPV could get both six- and seven-seater configurations.
When looking at the interior side, the facelifted XL6 will be upgraded with new upholstery. It is also said to have some revisions in terms of quality. All other features like seating, leather jacketed steering wheel, adjustable driver seat, and premium soft touch roof lining would be the same as the existing XL6.
Functionality like auto AC, remote keyless entry, cruise control, power and tilt steering, and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs are the same. Maruti XL6 also has a large infotainment system with voice command and Bluetooth connectivity options which also would be the same in facelift XL6.
The only upgrade with the facelift XL6 is a sunroof. Though it will be a great addition, this information is yet to be confirmed.
To play a safer game in the price part, Maruti Suzuki seems to provide only minor upgrades to the facelifted version of XL6. Facelifted XL6 is also said to have a similar engine configuration as the existing ones with K15B Smart Hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.5-litre petrol motor.
This motor has the capacity of making 103 hp of max power at 6,000 pm and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. When it comes to transition options, it has a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
The existing version of XL6 has the support of a starter-generator, engine idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration, and torque assist for faster acceleration. Users can experience an enhanced driving experience with XL6.
Considering the safety features, the facelifted version of XL6 is said to have a similar configuration as in the existing XL6. The new XL6 will be available with ABS with EBD and brake assist, reverse parking camera and sensor, engine immobilizer, electronic stability program, security alarm, and high-speed alarm.
